As a dedicated advocate for the Latinx community and immigrant rights, Barbara Mojica brings a wealth of experience in community engagement, financial services, and cooperative leadership. Since August 2022, she has served as Executive Director of the National Association of Latino Credit Unions & Professionals (NLCUP), where she leads initiatives that strengthen community partnerships and advance the role of credit unions in serving Latinx and immigrant populations.

With more than 11 years of experience in the financial sector, including 8 years in the credit union movement, Barbara is deeply committed to ensuring that financial institutions better understand and meet the needs of diverse communities through advocacy, education, and innovation.

Barbara holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke and was recognized as the Protégé winner for her credit union in 2018. She is currently pursuing her Master of Management in Co-operatives and Credit Unions at Saint Mary’s University (Halifax), deepening her expertise in cooperative management, social justice, and community-centric approaches to finance.

Her passion for empowering Latinx communities and uplifting other professionals in the credit union movement drives her commitment to financial inclusion and cooperative values. Outside of her professional life, Barbara enjoys exercising, exploring new crafting projects, and spending quality time with her nieces and nephews.
