Richard began his career in the financial services industry over 28 years ago, working for a community bank in San Luis Obispo, California. In 2001 Richard relocated to San Diego, where he began his work in the credit union industry. He developed a passion for leadership and service and gained a deep appreciation for the credit union movement.

In 2010, he joined Navy Federal, where he has held a variety of leadership positions. In 2014, Richard was selected as the Regional Manager, South San Diego area, where he led a branch network of 17 with over 250 team members. In 2019, he was promoted to Vice President of Branch Operations, where he led a team of 1,400 at more than 110 sites across the globe. As part of Navy Federal’s Executive Development Program, Richard transitioned to the Vice President of Accounting Operations in 2023. Additionally, Richard is the Executive in Charge of the San Diego Operations campus, leading a team of 220 team members who provide support across the enterprise.
